Description and itinerary
When we hear Morocco, the first cities coming to our mind are definitely touristic destinations like Casablanca, but the north of the country has a totally different spectacle to offer… Have you heard already of Assilah or Chefchaouen?
During these three days of discovery we will visit four cities and each one has its own charm: Chefchaouen, Assilah, Tanger y Tetouan. Tetouan; always accompanied by a professional local guide who knows every corner of the city.
DAY 1: CHEFCHAOUEN
The first city we will visit will surely mark your heart: Chefchaouen, the famous Blue City. Located in the northwest of the country, in the foothills of the Rif Mountains, the small city offers one of the most beautiful medinas in Morocco. Its narrow streets painted entirely in blue are very quiet compared to other medinas and it is a perfect place to cool off thanks to the pure mountain air.To end the day in a perfect way, there is nothing better than enjoying the many terraces of the Uta el-Hammam square, central point of the medina and meeting point.
DAY 2: ASILAH AND TANGIER
We will visit the beautiful city of Assilah, which medina is stunning. Its narrow streets, the blue and white painted houses full of street art and the view of the sea waves hit the medina’s walls… “Il dolce farniente” as they would say in Italy.
For many, Assilah is “The pearl of Morocco” and when you discover it, you will surely agree.
Tangier offers a harmonious contrast between Europe and Africa, being a mix between North Africa, Spain and France. On the one hand, we find the medina with its traditional houses and picturesque streets. On the other hand, a modern atmosphere driven by European cultures. And that’s not all, you will find there extravagant palaces, you can admire the whole city from viewpoints and of course the magnificent views towards the coast.
DAY 3: TETOUAN
On Sunday we will visit the city of Tetouan or “La Paloma Blanca” (The White Dove). It is the city of Morocco with the most Andalusian features. There we will mainly visit its Medina, which is a World Heritage Site (UNESCO), and although it is one of the smallest in Morocco, it is undoubtedly the most complete and the one that has been most protected from external influences. This means that inside the medina you can see the locals in their traditional clothing, small shops, beautiful mosques, bakeries and narrow streets where it is very easy to get lost without a guide. Setting foot in the Medina is like stepping into another era.
