Description:

The last British colony of the Iberian Peninsula

Gibraltar is the last British territory based in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. Since the War of the Spanish Succession, at the end of which Gibraltar was declared British colony, Spain and the United Kingdom are in a territorial dispute about the city of Gibraltar. With its culture, its language and its British gastronomy, Gibraltar presents an interesting contrast to Spain.

One of the main tourist attractions are the caves of San Miguel. This deep cave system has been discovered during the Second World War in 1942, with the objective of building an emergency hospital. Besides the visit of Gibraltar’s centre and its Main Street, we will climb to the viewpoint La Punta de Europa, from which we can see the end of Spain and the beginning of Africa.

We will start the visit in the center, where we will discover the mix between Spanish and English culture. We will go through the Main Street and climb the Rock to reach the top and enjoy incredible views and monkeys. We will enjoy the Skywalk (a 360º platform) and go through the famous suspension bridge (Windsor Bridge).

There will also be free time for lunch, to continue discovering the city or for shopping. In Gibraltar many products are duty free, so you can take advantage of good deals.

Recommendations:

In this excursion we will make a great walk up the rock to enjoy the monkeys. We recommend that you bring comfortable clothes and shoes, water and food.

If you don’t want to or have difficulty walking a lot, there is also the option of going up by cable car or tourist taxi (at your own expense).
