When we hear Morocco, the first cities coming to our mind are definitely touristic destinations like Casablanca, but the north of the country has a totally different spectacle to offer.. Have you heard already of Assilah or Chefchaouen?
During these three days of discovery will visit four cities and each one has its own charm: Tetouan, Tanger, Asilah and Chefchaouen; Always accompanied by a professional local guide who knows every corner of the city.
The first city that we will visit, and where our 4-star hotel is located, is Tetuan, "La Paloma Blanca". It is the city of Morocco with the most Andalusian resemblances, in order not to be confused from the beginning. There we will mainly visit its Medina, a World Heritage Site (UNESCO), and even if it is one of the smallest in Morocco, it is undoubtedly the most complete one and the most protected from external influences. Which it means that within the medina you can see the people in their traditional costumes, small shops, beautiful mosques, bakeries and narrow streets where it is very easy to get lost without a guide. Putting one foot in the Medina is like projecting yourself to another era.
On Saturday morning, it’s time to hit the road to Tangier, but on the way we will make a mandatory break in the beautiful small city of Assilah, which medina is precious. Its narrow streets, the blue and white houses full of street art paintings and the view of the waves crashing against the ramparts of the Medina smell like “Farniente”. For many people, Assilah is the “Pearl of Morocco” and you will surely agree with them.
About 30 kilometers north of Assilah, at the northern tip of Morocco and at the gates of Europe, is the city of Tangier. Tangier is the second industrial center of Morocco, after Casablanca and its geographical location turned the city into the main gateway to Morocco by boat. This is what makes this city so interesting, because Tangier offers a harmonious contrast between Europe and Africa, being a mixture between northern Africa, Spain and France. On the one hand, there is the medina with its traditional houses and picturesque streets and on the other hand, a modern environment influenced by European cultures. And that's not all, from the heights of the city, where are the extravagant luxurious palaces, you can admire the entire city and the magnificent views of the coast and its beautiful beaches; beaches where we will enjoy the sunset and have a camel ride before going back to the hotel.
On Sunday, our last tour in Chefchaouen will surely stay in your heart. The famous Blue City is located in the northwest of the country, in the foothills of the Rif mountains. The small town offers one of the most beautiful medinas of Morocco. Its narrow streets painted entirely in blue are very quiet compared to other medinas and they are the perfect place to relax thanks to the pure mountain air. Finally, to end the trip in the perfect way, there is nothing better than enjoying the many terraces of the Uta el-Hammam, central and meeting point of the medina.
